Review #160: Holiday with a Stranger by Christy McKellen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Unless it is mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of time. There are too many mediocre things in life- love should not be one of them"

Christy McKellen, an English author, have spun an enchanting love story, in her latest book, Holiday with a Stranger that revolves around a workaholic and bossy woman taking a break from her office hum-drum to make peace with her arrogant attitude, little did she knew orgasms were the best remedy to soften her soul.

To be fair: I'm not that judgmental when it comes to reading Mills & Boons or Harlequin books. I believe we all need to read a little bit of fairytale romance sometime to lose oneself in the beauty of it.

Synopsis:

"Who are you?"

After three months of traveling, all Connor Preston wants to do is sink into his own bed. The last thing he expects is to find a stark-naked woman already there….

Josie Marchpane wasn't anticipating company either. Connor may be six feet four inches of pure muscle and boast a disturbingly sexy smile, but a fortnight in the South of France is the one thing standing between Josie and her sanity—and she's not about to give it up without a fight!

Because Josie plays to win. The problem? Connor does, too. And with only one bed between them, things are about to get interesting.

Josie, the workaholic, is taking a break from her business to deal with her hotheadedness and depression. Instead a tall, olive-skinned and hot man breaks her from her peace when they realized that both Josie and Connor have to share their little French apartment, since Josie works for Connor's sister, and she happens to be the owner of that apartment. They make a deal that Connor will sleep on the couch and Josie on the bed, but their undeniable attraction is drawing them like two opposite poles of magnet. And soon their attraction turns into hot and passionate lusty affair where they couldn't get enough of each other, but will their just-for-pleasure affair make them fall for each other with their hearts and emotions?

The storyline is nice and the emotions run deep in this book. The narrative is compelling enough to keep us on the loops! The chemistry and the love-making scenes described by the author are compassionate enough to make us feel it with our very hearts. The prose is easy and free-flowing thus giving a fast pace to the story. The story unfolded beautifully, without much drama. In fact the characters felt believable and are developed strongly. The descriptions are intricately detailed out in this story, thus allowing us to visualize the whole story in front of our eyes.

In short, it's a passionate love story that is not too cheesy or corny and the emotional pull between the two primary characters are strong enough to fall for them.

Verdict: A perfect weekend read!
